1940s
Home Front

The 1940s home front remains popular with both children and adults, evoking a time of air raids, rationing and Make Do and Mend. At Rabbit Pie, we have an extensive collection of original and reproduction foods, packaging, newspapers, household items, clothing, posters and more. Dressed in authentic 1940s attire, we'll take you on a trip along memory lane with talks, games and activities. We even have our own Rabbit Pie radio. Just don't forget your gas mask!

'There we stood, alone...The lights went out and the bombs came down. But every man, woman and child in the country had no thought of quitting the struggle.' - Sir Winston Churchill, May 1945

The Second World War is a fascinating period in history and an important part of the British school curriculum. At Rabbit Pie we help to bring the realities of the 1940s Home Front experience to life in the classroom and beyond.
Rabbit Pie offer hands-on educational packages which can be tailored to suit each school's requirements, class age range and budget. We offer full and half days complete with costumes for teachers and children, a full handling collection, storytelling, demonstrations and both indoor and outdoor activities. We also work with home school groups. The full list of available activities and an example itinerary can be downloaded here.
Our flexible, travelling 1940s collection brings the opportunity for immersive learning to schools without the need for off-site travel. We are DBS checked and fully insured and can be contacted at rabbitpiehistory.co.uk for more details and our pricing structure.
